Reflecting on the War to Promote Democracy - After Viewing "Restrepo"

In addition to implicitly promoting the risky spirit of American soldiers, the documentary "Restrepo" objectively led the audience to think about the war aimed at "promoting democracy". There are two main questions: 1. Is it too costly to force one's own citizens to go to war (with the risk of losing their lives or bringing misfortune to a happy family) in order to establish a Western-style democracy in another country? 2. The soldiers who promote democracy do not fully understand the methods...

      can't stand

It's too real to accept. Maybe it's because I don't know much about the war in Afghanistan, maybe it's the death of an American soldier that's too far away from me, maybe it's because I've watched too many movies like Bruce Willis' Die Hard, and there's no difference between me and reality It's getting farther and farther, so when I look at Restrepo, I feel that it is very dull. After only ten minutes, I can't watch it any longer.
I just remember the faces, names, and military ranks that...

Do it whether you want it or not.

What impressed me the most in the film was the scene where the fighters were complaining about everything in front of them. You would think why these guys are so rotten, unpatriotic, and not like the fighters in our country's movies, who made all kinds of rhetoric. But, I like their complaints, that's the real feeling.
When that soldier saw his dead comrade on the ground, grabbed his comrade and roared, you were lying. His eyes were full of helplessness and sadness, completely...

No matter how gorgeous and true, it is killing.

No matter how realistic the documentary is, the thoughts after editing are clear at a glance. My own people will definitely score high, but what about other people? If the Japanese announce a very documentary World War 2 China battlefield, will we give high marks for the truth in their eyes? Where there are American soldiers, there is killing, and the claim to liberate and help other peoples is not the core interest of the United States. Who invited you to come to your own country to fight? If...

The director is indeed very dedicated, dedicated to the final death on the battlefield. It's just that the film's perspectives and tendencies are lacking in expression. It's just a documentary of life in the battlefield, and it has a sense of heroic discourse...

In 2007, they decided to follow a field platoon deployed as a whole in the Karengar Valley of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. They followed the group of fighters in the most dangerous battlefield of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. They went to the station 10 times and filmed them. More than 150 hours of material, including not only the battle scenes, but also the fear and plight of the soldiers here. During the shooting...

    A real war experience

If " The Hurt Locker " expresses the danger and fear of frontline soldiers in a realistic way, then "Restrepo" goes one step further, because it is reality and it truly records everything that happened on the battlefield. In this film, you can hear the conversations of these soldiers, watch their dangerous patrols, and you can understand that they are forced to complete their missions with limited resources. It is no longer an...

    Movie quotes

    • Joshua McDonough: They're gathering intel right now, basically, on how to deal with us because they haven't - - there's no real research or intel on how to treat us right now because they haven't had to deal with people like us since WWII and Vietnam, you know, dealing with guys that are coming back from 15 month deployments with as much fighting, you know, as we went through.
