An investigative report from Hoh Xil

      Wedge--Crazy thoughts about Hoh Xil

When I saw the Hoh Xil recruiting volunteers in the newspaper a few years ago, I began to be fascinated by this place. The magnificent scenery on the vast Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Although I often heard negative news such as someone dying in a car accident there, its attraction to me has never diminished.
Because the more dangerous things are, the more tempting they are. Even fatal.
I admit that I still don't know where the Hoh Xil is....

A brief conversation with Lu Chuan

Q: First of all, congratulations on winning the Special Censor Award at the Tokyo Film Festival. How do you feel about this?
Lu Chuan: I feel very calm. First of all, this award is an affirmation of "Kekexili" and the efforts of our creators and staff. But making movies is not about winning awards. I watched "Whiskey", which won the Golden Unicorn Award. It was a very perfect and wonderful film festival film, and the award deserved its name. In addition, like "Dandelion" is also quite...

      Kekexili in my heart

I don't know since when, my heart has become extremely soft, although it won't hurt the spring and autumn, but when I see the provocative words or touching scenes, I will cry. "Kekexili" is a movie that made me cry. The film focuses on the protection of rare animals, and tells the story of reporters and mountain rangers who fought stubbornly against Tibetan antelope poachers and even sacrificed their lives in order to protect Tibetan antelopes and the ecological environment. It's a film...

      The other side of Tibet

When it comes to Tibet, the blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, grasslands, temples, white pagodas, prayer wheels, mani stones, the chanting of monks, the fragrance of butter tea in black tents, and delicious tsampa yogurt, colorful wind horse prayer flags.

Yes, if this is the case, it would be a veritable "Shambhala Pure Land" in the eyes of Westerners.

However, this is only her tender and short-lived side. Before the ruthlessness of the other side, people will...

Tribute to those who dedicated themselves to Hoh Xil

I'm ashamed to see it after 7 years. Lu Chuan, it's amazing, although like many people, he gradually compromised with the market through word-of-mouth masterpieces, but this is actually not your fault. At least compared to those who criticized you, you left behind a precious treasure.

This is what the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve looked like before its establishment. The volunteer guards have not been paid for a year, have no cars, no one, and no guns. It is hard to imagine how they stand...

    Behind the scenes gags

1: When on the set, Zhao Xueying was woken up by flies and mosquitoes every day instead of being woken up, but she never hurt a mosquito, because in Mountain Patrol, everything has life   .
2: The film was shot in the plateau, and it was painful for the staff who carried the machines and the actors who were filming. During the filming, some staff members often fainted   .
3: In pursuit of realism, "Mountain Patrol" only used three...

    Creative background

The film is based on a true story. Before 1985, Mountain Patrol lived about 1 million plateau animals in French Antilope du Tibet, Tchirou, but as the price of French Antilope du Tibet, Tchirou velvet skyrocketed, Mountain Patrol broke out the bloody massacre of French Antilope du Tibet, Tchirou. Since 1993, Tibetans and Han nationals in the surrounding areas of Mountain Patrol, under the leadership of Captain Sonam Dajie, formed a...

    Shooting process

In August 2003, the film officially started shooting. Positive Reviews

"Mountain Patrol" is called "a film about faith and life". The film not only won awards at home and abroad, but also touched many audiences. The shock of "Mountain Patrol" is that it reveals the core of the national spirit and vividly shows the process of an idealist from life to death (Commentary of "Competitive News")  . The film carries an absolute simplicity and masculinity, and infinitely magnified natural laws of life and death....

    Negative reviews

"Mountain Patrol" is a film that "dangerously deteriorates" the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In order to highlight the height of the characters and the description of the environment, the film ignores basic facts, and there are many factual errors, causing misleading effects to the audience. First of all, the desert has a strong load-bearing capacity, which is different from the swamp, not to mention that Mountain Patrol is a permafrost area...

    • Ga Yu: I'm a reporter from Beijing.

Ri Tai: I don't have the time.

Ga Yu: Wait a second. You want this place to be declared as a nature reserve. Maybe I can help.
