I haven't read the original book, but only watched the movie once, and then I rashly wrote a comment, which only represents my personal feelings. lol.
"Kiss of the Spider Woman" rewrote the usual screen image of revolutionaries. In the eyes of people in peaceful times, revolutionaries are angry and implement revolutionary ideology in every moment of life. As the saying goes, they love tearing B. It seems that the goal is unclear and therefore inexplicable.
But "Kiss of the Spider...

Love can change a person but not the world
Kiss of the Spider Woman (Hector Babenco, 1985) contains a memorable intertextuality between fiction and reality, revolution and love. The film takes a Latin American prison in the 1980s as the main scene. Morina (William Hurt), a gay man who was arrested for molesting a juvenile, slowly walks to another political prisoner in the cell, Valentin (Raul Julia) Recalling a "non-existent" love fragment Plot: During World War II, the French singer (Sonia Brage) fell in love with the handsome Nazi...

From the movie, it is difficult to say that the revolutionary Valentine fell in love with Molina, but Molina fell in love with Valentine and participated in the revolutionary activities. After reading it, I feel that a character like Molina deserves praise. Valentine's unforgettable memory at the end is still Marta, and Marta is a middle-class woman as he said, the reason why Valentine was arrested by the police, from the film, it seems that Marta is suspected of being a whistleblower....

A Love Surpassing Homo/Hetero Space
"She is...Well, She is..." The
film begins with a female title, and the light and shadow on the walls reflect a closed and narrow story space—the prison. Molina's voice echoes faintly in the small space, and his breath rises and falls with the plot of the story.
Molina, played by William Hurt, is beyond reproach. He didn't follow the popular idea of interpreting a Molina who aspired to be a woman with overly delicate behavior and a pretentious voice. But the film begins as his...

The Mutual Confirmation of Nested Narratives
It is a play within a play. In order to emphasize the difference between reality and film (play within a play), the performance of the play within a play is deliberately treated with expressionism. The two nested texts employ the same narrative structure, an interweaving of the sublime narrative of revolution and the everyday narrative of love. In the end, the sublime narrative was successfully dispelled. The play in the play has a clear background - Nazis vs. French resistance, but in the...

I think the charm comes mainly from the original novel. However, it is very difficult to adapt such a stylized novel into a movie while retaining its spirit, because the better the novel, the more difficult it will be to adapt it into a good movie. And this film basically does it. Especially in the scenes in the small prison cells, the scene scheduling is colorful and...

Oh I love Molina! He played Molina so vivid, so appropriate, so vivid. One frown, one smile, one sadness and one joy, every detail and every action! The stories he tells are so beautiful! His love is so pure! (This film is very suitable for listening, speaking very...

Lock you in a room with walls on all sides, with a loved one in the room. Every day you repeat the previous day, he doesn't love you, you love him. If there is no change,...

Revolution and fantasy style reveals a kind of demon in the bones, but the demon is not...
Secret Policeman: [to Molina] You faggot piece of shit! You fell in love with that bastard?
Valentin Arregui: You only know the reality that was stuck up your ass!
Luis Molina: Why should I think about reality in this stink hole? That's like "Why should I get more depressed that I already am?".
Valentin Arregui: You're worse than I thought! Do you use these movies to jerk yourself off?
Luis Molina: [Crying] If you don't stop, I will never speak to you again!
Valentin Arregui: Stop crying! You sound just like an old woman!
Luis Molina: [Whimpering] It's what I am! It's what I am!
Valentin Arregui: [Forcing Molina's legs apart] What's this between your legs, huh? Tell me, "lady"!
Luis Molina: It's an accident. If I had the courage, I'd cut it off.
Valentin Arregui: You'd still be a man! A MAN! A MAN IN PRISON! JUST LIKE THE FAGGOTS THE NAZIS SHOVED IN THE OVENS!
Valentin Arregui: How can you remember all this crap? You must be making it up.
Luis Molina: No! I'm not, I sw -- well, I *embroider* a little so that you can see it the way I do.
Valentin Arregui: God help me.
Luis Molina: You atheists never stop talking about God...
Valentin Arregui: And you gays never face facts. Fantasies are no escape.
Luis Molina: [scoffs] If you've got the keys to that door I will *gladly* follow. Otherwise, I will "escape" in my own way. Thank you.
Valentin Arregui: Then your life is as trivial as your movies. I'm going to sleep.
