      "Suspect"

This is a movie released in 1991. Based on true events in the Hollywood film industry in the 1950s. De Niro plays a director, David Merry.

In the United States in 1950, under the deceit of Senator McCarthy, a wave of anti-communism was launched in the United States. First and foremost is Hollywood. The slogan is "We want to protect America from being brainwashed by the ideas they spread through movies and TV shows." Those who are considered suspects of...

      Quite good looking

I recently watched Guilty By Suspicion. This movie was unpopular, but it was very good. It gave me a history of exclusion/persecution of (suspected) communists in Hollywood that I was not familiar with before.

There is an interesting detail, Martin Scorsese cameo in the film as a friend of the protagonist, a real communist. There is a line he said in it, which is suspected to be his own performance, because the sentence "He's the genius. I steal from...

All words are so insignificant in front of the "state", and rights, freedoms, and interests are easily buried in the "state" defined by a few people in power. This film can face the political persecution incident, it is indeed commendable courage. But the foreshadowing of the first half was bland and procrastinated. Fortunately, De Niro's performance was supported, and the final climax was very spicy and ironic~ PS: Martin Scorsese played a small supporting role in this...

During the Cold War in the 1950s, the Commission of Inquiry into Non-American Activities used various methods to track down fellow Communists in the American film industry, and forced filmmakers to betray others. If they did not cooperate, they continued to obstruct his job opportunities. Finally, the Ten Gentlemen Incident occurred. . This film was shot accordingly. Robert. De Niro plays the famous director David Merrell, who loses his job because he refuses to betray his friends. Annette...

It must be five stars, such a meaningful film is so deserted. Think of it as the persecution of power, not irrelevance. As long as the sovereignty of all democracy is greater than human rights, it can be shattered in an instant. It is not worth mentioning. Battle of this...

    • David Merrill: Upset? Why should I be upset? You've only ruined my life. Why should I be upset?

    • David Merrill: You asked me how I'm doing. You wanna know how I'm doing? I can't get a job... can't get a job. All my friends - gone. I'm being followed by the FBI everywhere I go. I lost my house. I can't even buy my son a bike for Christmas.

    • David Merrill: I'm a filmmaker. That's all I am, I don't know what else to do. What the hell do they think I'm gonna do? Blow all the bridges if the Red Army comes invading Manhattan?
