      hell gate

Ping Qingsheng left the capital and went to Itsukushima. As soon as he left the capital, the Battle of Pingkang broke out. In one night, all residences in Qingsheng were attacked by anti-Qingsheng factions. Ping Kang took the opportunity to rescue everyone. Endo Samurai Sheng Yuan sent Watanabe Watanabe's wife Kasohei to his brother Sheng Zhong's mansion. Sheng Yuan was attracted by Jia Su's beauty. The capital was finally occupied by the anti-Qing factions, and the ministers of the Qingsheng...

      deeper than the surface

"Gate of Hell" tells the story of the Japanese samurai Sheng Yuan who fell in love with the wife of Watanabe Watanabe, the wife of the shogunate guard, after the Battle of Hirakang in Japan, and threatened the cassock with violence. The story is ostensibly a love movie with no absolute villain. Although Sheng Yuan tried to destroy other people's loving families in the movie, the movie began to portray him with integrity. He is just a reckless man who is dazzled by love, representing a stupid...

The picture is a cinematic Ukiyo-e, and the plot is a concrete Noh drama.

The plot of this movie is very simple, and there is nothing spectacular. However, every move of the people in the play is like a traditional Japanese drama, slow but tight, and the shamisen conveys a sense of tension and strangeness. Every frame is full of Japanese aesthetics and Ukiyo-e art. Whether it is under the moon or by the lake. Or the grass blown by the night wind. Desolate, chilling, prosperous, and sad, all reveal the temperament of the ancient Japanese aristocracy. Director...

      just finished

The face of an actress is very standard of a lady of that era. Like a geisha, I can't remember whether I saw this person in "Rashomon" or "Yang Guifei". But that generation of actors, I still prefer the ones in "The Generation of Western Cranes" and "Ginza Makeup", they are not rigid and elegant.

      The picture is gorgeous.

I always feel that Gaza's husband is very similar to Liu Xiang. This character is very good.

At the beginning of the film, I thought it would tell...

      spontaneous combustion

The wife has a hard time to say, there is bending that is difficult to extend, and there is hatred that is difficult to dispel. She uses death to counsel her husband, but the husband finally does not understand, only sighs, why don't you believe me? Why bother like this? Just imagine, if a wife has the ability to deceive a corpse, she should sit up and say bluntly, "The little girl is twenty-eight years old. Marrying this old melon, people will humiliate my reputation, touch my jade body,...

Up to the first 20 minutes #The color of this film, matched with this costume design, is absolutely amazing. In addition, the composition is often at a 45-degree angle to the building, which is obviously derived from the viewpoint habit of painting, but it always feels strange when it is moved. If you want to be more extreme, there are many close-up shots that can be discarded, because their sense of distance is not appropriate. Sadly, I have no interest in the...

Japan's first Palme d'Or, a colorful costume movie directed by a former Kabuki actor, every shot has a very delicate design. The composer is the third son of Akutagawa...

The traditional cultural setting is good, the protagonist's music is well coordinated, and the theme desire is good. The male protagonist is worth pondering. He is not only a loyal and direct good person, but also a slave of desire. He is kind, makes mistakes, thinks hard, and realizes, and it is natural to become a monk in the...

The 53-year film is so high-definition and so bright! The plot is also very good, very traditional, the clothes are beautiful, and the destructive power of lust is depicted. The male protagonist was originally quite positive, but since he fell in love with the female protagonist, he became lost and began to resort to all means. However, the male protagonist has short legs and thick arms, so he is not as good as the female protagonist's original husband,...

    Movie plot

    Positive review

"Gate of Hell" has played a great role in helping European and American audiences to understand the ancient Japanese folk customs and the national style of Japanese movies. From the perspective of Japanese film art history, "Gate of Hell" can be regarded as an outstanding reproduction of natural colors (Cinema Manual Award-winning Film Volume Review)
"Gate of Hell" focuses more on the torture of human nature and is a warning to the...

    Negative comment

"Gate of Hell" may seem too cheesy for the 21st century, but it's still elegant in the chaos of the seven major color systems of the time. Because by comparison, Gate of Hell is really lackluster artistically, with a superficial story, simple plot, pretentious scenes, and masked characters that make people sleepy. At the beginning of the film, I thought it would tell a love story between Kassa and Sheng Yuan, but finally I realized...

    • Moritoo Endô: Brother, please don't be a traitor. This isn't you.

Moritada: I know what I'm doing. What good will it do for you to serve Kyomori?

Moritoo Endô: I don't know. Once you serve him though, he's your master forever. How can you betray him in his absence?

Moritada: It's not cowardice. It's shrewd stratagy. I'm sorry to tell you Kiyomori won't be coming back.

Moritoo Endô: How can a pack of mutts defeat the Taira Clan?

    • Kesa: [after Moritoo grabs her in a strong embrace] What are you doing?

Moritoo Endô: You refuse no matter what?

      Kesa: Yes.

Moritoo Endô: Then I'm ready. You're mine now!

Kesa: No matter what you say, female virtue won't allow it.

Moritoo Endô: Drop your husband. Leave Wataru.

      Kesa: I can't do that.

Moritoo Endô: Why can't you? I, Moritoo, will slay Wataru. I won't stop with Wataru. If needed, your aunt too. I might have to kill you too!

Kesa: [the camera moves in for an intense close-up of Kesa] Are you ready to do all that? Do you want me that much?

Moritoo Endô: I want you. I can't live without you. What do you say? Can't you grant my wish? Eh? Why don't you answer? Do you want Wataru, yourself, and your aunt all dead? Kesa! It all depends on your answer now.

    • Moritoo Endô: [to Kesa's aunt] If you take a step outside tonight, I'll lop off your head!
