      Small comment

Scorsese is a very peculiar director. In his works, both theology and gangsters are highly respected. Perhaps this is the achievement of his unique American chivalrous style.
The most successful part of this work is when he presents the three factions, the "local gang" representing American nativism, the "dead rabbit gang" representing integration and equality, and the U.S. government in a "fair" presentation to the audience. It is up to you to judge the pros and cons of representing...

"He casts Satan the devil out of heaven"

In terms of plot, "the gang of new york" is not a wonderful film. The scene changes are abrupt and the plot is not compact enough. However, the director thoughtfully integrates religious oracles into the flow of time in the film. , so a sky mural about blood and revenge, faith and rebirth unfolded eloquently as the crowd looked up.
In the winter of 1864, in the snow-capped Fifth Street Square (where the five streets meet), two gangs faced off, one side was an ally of the leader of the Dead...

The blood stays on the blade

Before watching "Gangs of New York", I was a little reluctant. I felt that such a theme might mean a tangle that started with a tangle and ended with a tangle, or bangbang! The main character appears, bangbang! The protagonist is fading, bangbangbangbangbang! The protagonist won the victory + beauty, over.

But for some reason, at the beginning of the movie, when Liam Neeson uttered the line "The blood stays on the blade" in his big-nosed voice, I somehow fell in love with the movie,...

New York gangsters, American gangsters and even modern American history

I have to say that it is indeed a good film. The director indirectly shows the history of that era in the United States through the struggle of two camps of gangsters for different ideas. The American Civil War, the same two camps, two concepts, population migration, melting pot phenomenon, race Discrimination against indigenous people and other social phenomena were all captured by director Ying through the fight between two gangs and finally developed to a climax. The gang fight was so...

gangster movies i don't really get into

While watching this film, a lot of random thoughts popped up. The first one was when I saw Leonardo and Diaz and sighed that they were still young at that time. Whether this film is good or not really depends on who should watch it. Maybe people who have experienced that period of history or lived in that land will be more impressed. Just like I always think that Young and Dangerous is a classic, here is a little bit about the situation of the Chinese in New York at that time, and there is a...

Gangster stories are all about revenge at the beginning, and Gangs of New York is a story like that, but it's more of an Irish dirge, a war...

This isn't a gangster movie, it's The Birth of a City. My knowledge of American history is limited to textbooks, and I love Lao Ma's epic style. The photography is amazing. The revenge story is mixed into history, and it is easy to be brilliant, but I always feel that the characterization can be more...

I don't seem to think that the director is good at making gangster films, he just "likes" them. Has he been involved in a gang fight himself? Really blunt. The paragraphs are not very clear, the rhythm has been dead ancient,,,,,, read it out of...

The film is set between 1846 and 1863. This is a story about how Irish and Italian gangs took root in New York and competed for turf. Behind the scenes gags

    1. Under the guidance of Scorsese and boxing consultants, Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day Lewis spent months perfecting their own hands.
      2. The name of the Irish gang "Dead Rabbits" in the film is derived from the Gaelic "dod ráibéid", which means a big man who is irritable and irritable.
      3. Bill the Butcher in the film originated from Bill Poole, a native of New York at the time. Poole was a butcher and later became a...

    Evaluation action

The film portrayed the appearance of the social environment to the extreme. The film provides a lot of nuanced details, such as the "welcome" of the locals throwing rotten tomatoes when the new immigrants disembark, and the fashionable beauties who steal for a living in public places. But these sporadic "life sketches" do not form an organic whole, and can only be appreciated as details. There are scenes of Peking Opera singing in...

    Movie quotes

    • Amsterdam Vallon: In the end, they put candles on the bodies so's their friends, if they had any, could know them in the dark. The city did this free of charge. Shang, Jimmy Spoils, Hell-cat, McGloin, and more. Friend or foe, didn't make no difference now. It was four days and nights before the worst of the mob was finally put down. We never knew how many New Yorkers died that week before the city was finally delivered. My father told me we was all born of blood and tribulation, and so then too was our great city. But for those of us what lived and died in them furious days, it was like everything we knew was mightily swept away. And no matter what they did to build this city up again... for the rest of time... it would be like no one ever knew we was even here.

    • Bill: [after stabbing Priest] Look to me! Who is this under my knife!

    • Bill: Everything you see belongs to me, to one degree or another. The beggars and newsboys and quick thieves here in Paradise, the sailor dives and gin mills and blind tigers on the waterfront, the anglers and amusers, the she-hes and the Chinks. Everybody owes, everybody pays. Because that's how you stand up against the rising of the tide.
