Farewell, weapons! - Review of "The Devil is Coming"

"The Devil Is Coming" is still banned in mainland China as a banned film, because of the ambiguous relationship between Chinese and Japanese soldiers and civilians, as well as the scenes of Chinese peasants and Japanese soldiers getting together. Suspected, in fact, "The Devils Are Coming" and "Nanjing!" which caused controversy some time ago Nanjing! " has the same effect. Both films look at the war from a new height. It can be said that this film not only does not glorify the invaders, but...

      Jiang Wen is very thoughtful

Anti-Japanese War movie starring Jiang Wen. When it comes to the theme of the Anti-Japanese War, many people lose interest. In fact, this film is very different. It is not a tribute to the anti-Japanese heroes, nor is it to expose the brutality of the invaders. Instead, it focuses on analyzing human nature, especially the characteristics of Chinese people.

It is said that the film was banned for "beautifying the Japanese invaders". But I don't think the film is to beautify or vilify...

      Thought-provoking anti-Japanese themed works

Others are filming "Bing on the City", and you are filming Tear Devils.
Someone else is filming Saving Private Ryan, you are filming a grenade bomber.
Others are filming "Schindler's List", and you are filming dodging bullets.
Others are filming "D-Normandy", and you are filming naked women to salute the Eighth Route Army!
The Chinese finally filmed "The Devil is Coming", but you are not allowed to release it.
Every work that tries to break...

Fake documentaries in line with national conditions

It's a pity that such a good film was only watched today. After a day, I still have the fragments in my mind, and I feel more and more that it is a rare masterpiece. After thinking about it, it is because I have never gotten such a resonance in my heart. A satirical way to write a corner of the real history.

It is said that a documentary is the epitome of history, so it expresses a condensed shot, allowing people to see the core meaning in a short period of time, so we saw all...

To be kind to the enemy is to be cruel to oneself

It's not comedy at all. It's too blurry, it hurts my eyes, and it's really not clear, so I deducted one star. If I were to actually write a review of this stuff, I wouldn't be brave enough. Jiang Dao is really a tough guy.

I guessed the ending from the phone call, and the foreshadowing here is obvious.

Even the captured Japanese did not dare to kill them. They found a lot of helpers, but none of them dared...

Jiang Wen's masterpiece won the Cannes Jury Prize. This film is simply an encyclopedia of Chinese inferiority: hypocrisy, selfishness, indifference, spectators, servility, infighting, kicking the ball and muddy... It also deeply portrays the duality of the Japanese, and cuts to the bone. The solemn black and white images are in great contrast with the absurd and playful plot, and the color images at the end are extremely shocking. The film is like a tragicomedy by Lu Xun and Kusturica....

This is basically the pinnacle of mainland movies, depicting wars, people, and various faces of soldiers. Profound, funny, true, pathetic, hateful, ridiculous, pathetic. As one of the most powerful films in mainland China, it is also an honor for every Tangshan person to use Tangshan dialect throughout. When your head was cut off, you saw the world clearly, such ignorant and chaotic philistines were laughing and watching the...

Personally, I don't think this movie is much better than "Let the Bullets Fly". It's almost self-deprecating. 's blank. One of the most wonderful domestic...

    Movie plot

At the end of War of Resistance against Japan, the story took place in a remote village named Gujiatai near Shanhaiguan, Hebei. One night, someone escorted two sacks with captives into the home of villager Ma Dasan. One of them was a Japanese soldier and the other was an interpreter. I had promised to pick up people in eight days, but there was no news since then.
After the two captives were kept in the village for a long time, the...

    Investment shoot

"Devils on the Doorstep" used 480,000 rolls of film. Gu Changwei suggested whether Jiang Wen could shoot black and white. At that time, the technical means and personnel and equipment were not particularly complete, and black and white films were a challenge for photographers. This is not a matter of form, but of content.
Anyone who has seen it has realized that according to the story of "Devils on the Doorstep", its color itself is the...

    Positive review

There is not the slightest resemblance to any kind of creative characteristics from China, it is a film that is ready to go.   ( New French Observer )
Compared with his compatriots Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige, his style is closer to Fellini and Kusturica. A film masterpiece that renews the old and brings forth the new marks the birth of a talented filmmaker. "Sunny Day" leaves Jiang Wen's juvenile memories on film, and "Devils on the...
