Das Boot--A Finely Detailed And Deep Meaning War Film

The five-hour movie is not so long and unbearable. On the contrary, "Attack from the Bottom of the Sea" is a German movie. Its rigorous structure, demanding details, and cruel and true portrayal make it human under the cloud of war. The struggle is presented with great tension in the claustrophobic space of the submarine. After the plot that contains the ups and downs is like a cat-and-mouse game, the helpless loneliness, through the expression of the group portrait, presents the...

      "Das Boot"--A Forever Classic Movie

War-themed films are relatively difficult to make, so a lot of them have been made, but too few can become classics. But no matter how few classic war films are, they will be a classic forever.

This old film, released in 1982, is still powerful and shocking today after 25 years. The dark tone of the film, the unabashed praise for human nature, the plot...

War is nothing but boring and cruel

"From the Bottom of the Sea," a five-hour unedited film, I spent a week watching this three-hour cut. This may be the most realistic movie about war I have ever seen. Although the movie depicts the preparations for war and the activities between the crew, it further sublimates the war. The helplessness of both sides and the cruelty of the war are simply amazing. . The screenwriter and director are close to full marks, the actors' acting skills are close to full marks, the soundtrack is close...

A new perspective, a new World War II

What attracted me from the beginning of "From the Bottom of the Sea" was not its WWII and submarine themes, but its astonishing length. The director's cut is 5 hours long, and the theatrical version is 3 hours and 37 minutes. As a West German movie in 1981, it is really admirable to be able to achieve this level of special effects and this market. Of course, the films about World War II are not all about the Allied forces beating the Germans and Nazis, but "Attack from the Bottom of the Sea"...

Great Germanic tragedy. Ups and downs, exciting, bleak ending reminds me of Goethe's words: I often feel sad for the Germanic people, as individuals, they are precious, but as a whole, they are so...

The German-British submarine war, in terms of the hearts of the people on the submarine, is too long, but it is very engaging and has a sense of direct impact. Facing the moment when the British fell into the water, you had a choice within your control. Just like the medics in the bloody Hacksaw Ridge, in the concept of saving people, there is no war or national borders. It is a confrontation between two countries, and it has nothing to do with individuals. This film only shows the tip of the...

    Movie plot

During the Second World War, the German Navy U-96 submarine was ordered to the North Atlantic waters and was responsible for blocking and disrupting the transport and supply of British ships. The captain Heinrich Lehmann (Jurgen Prosno ) understands that the submarine he is commanding cannot fully assume the combat mission. This time he went to sea to perform the mission, he believed that there was no return. What he had was a group of...

    Evaluation action

The film has a bit of Fassbender's shadow in temperament, but it is calm and solid. The Nazis in it are also humble and reveal a great energy. It is not so much that "everyone in the war is involuntary". The argument seems to be a suspicion of redefining human nature for the Nazis. It is better to say that the soldiers in the war were all killed by the Nazis. ( Timeline Review
Every time the bottom line is breached, all the...

    • [the Captain and Lieutenant Werner escort Thomsen out of the men's room]

Capt. Lt. Philipp Thomsen: I... really wanted to screw my brains out. But now, I am in no condition to fuck!

      Captain: It's alright!

Capt. Lt. Philipp Thomsen: Sieg Heil!

    • Captain: They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

    • Captain: You have to have good men. Good men, all of them.
