Saw this Boychoir at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2014, on the second day of its opening. At the meeting with the main creator before the official opening, the director mentioned that this is his fourth time participating in TIFF. Various thanks to the actors, creators and screenwriters (the screenwriter is the guy who wrote the source code before.) Dustin Huffman also made a brief speech, he said, "it's a special movie, we hear that a lot. But you know films can be special...

The illusion of escape from the world
When you hear a title like "Boychoir," you'll guess the type of chicken soup that's inspirational and refreshing. The autistic genius child, the broken family, the brutal strict teacher, the madman's hard training, the last blockbuster only shocked the four. Etc., etc. Yes, this movie is such a cliché, with every expected plot, but it's such a cliché that made me watch it without going to sleep last night.
In fact, this is a movie that exists because of music. The movie itself is...

Wanted to see all of Dustin Hoffman's work and watched the movie Boychoir for it. A musical genius child who grew up in a broken family and was a little autistic. After his mother left him suddenly in a car accident, his illegitimate father reluctantly became a guardian and sent him to a famous singing school. The boy experienced the rejection of the interview, the huge gap in homework, the communication barriers with classmates, the devil training in singing, the...

If you don't consider the classic of the spring of the cattle class, this film can barely give three stars, but there is a cattle class with the same theme before, and there is a popping drummer who is against chicken soup for the soul. Mediocre...

"If you have to cheat, cheat better." "We all think we know these boys, what goes on with them, but we don't. We don't know a damn thing. We have forgotten what it was like to be them." "You all are gonna take that sacred, divine music of Handel's and knock it out of the ballpark. I wanna see angels descending from heaven right there in that cathedral. I want people to weep. I want you and your boys to shatter the stained glass windows!" "This is about music. It's about you. It's fifty minutes...

Mainly through the experience of the teenager Stet, I learned about the clips of ABC's usual singing practice and the school's appearance. There are no subtitles, and I don't really understand the absolute sound of the protagonist, and I can't remember the names of several classical pieces, but just listening to this children's chorus and the splendor, the colorful glazed church feels so healing. Of course the ending was bright for Stet. But I really feel sorry for the impetuous and snobbish...

American movies are too stereotyped. At the beginning, just looking at Devon's makeup, I already guessed that he would compete with Stet by sleazy means. America's understanding of religion is not as good as that of Europe, I think. Maybe it's just too much consideration for the comprehension ability of the most people, which is determined by money...
Devon: A thousand - two thousand seat halls, all those people. Doesn't matter. You don't even see 'em.
Master Carvelle: This is a community of people feeling the same thing. Most of them, strangers. But you are uniting them. You are giving them your voice. And that's as spiritual as it gets.
Stet: I hate Handel.
Master Carvelle: Handel hated singers too.
