      A Nearly Perfect Film

When I saw previews for this film, I thought "Its a movie about fishing, why would I want to see that?" This is as much of a fishing movie as Hoosiers is about basketball, or Field of Dreams is about baseball.

The story is elegant, the narrative beautiful, the characters deftly drawn. The relationship between the father and two sons is really interesting, and I love the interplay between them. There is great sadness, and also great humour. While nostalgic, I don't think the film ever...

      That's a peach

      [Minor spoilers]

As the old saying goes: a thousand readers make a thousand Hamlets. Everyone projects their own experiences and emotions when appreciating a literary and artistic work, so that they have different experiences. There are many angles to interpret a movie. For this film, some people see family affection, others see religion. I will only talk about one of them, and it is also a word that always comes to my mind when I watch it: nostalgia. Look up the dictionary to...

      Noman,Noman,wait for your brother

Even if we don't fully understand the people around us, we can still love them. All the time you can't say that you know a person completely, because you are not him, you, just you. When the old Norman stood alone in the big river fishing with a fake rope, what I felt was "people are born alone". When Jesse, who was closest to him at the end, passed away, the feeling of loneliness shrouded the old man. But he still has Dahe, and he still has Dahe love in his heart, and he will naturally stay by...

Innate stubbornness has nowhere to resolve

"The good things in the world are not firm, and the colorful clouds are easy to disperse and the glaze is brittle."

Some people are naturally stubborn and go their own way. Even if time, experience, and responsibility have made them suffer, they still have a temper that they would rather bend than bend. "it's my debt". This can't be regarded as a family tragedy where lack of care leads the teenager astray. In terms of personality, Paul has many friends, and he is well-liked and...

      The river in everyone's heart

      A River Runs Through It

I was interested in this film because I saw a photo of Robert Redford and Brand Pitt that looked like father and son.

The whole story is calm, like the big river in the film, which still flows through no matter how old it is. Although the plot at the end can feel a little abrupt. But in retrospect, this may have been life. In any case, I have always felt that Dahelian's film is...

It is rare to come across such a flat but not plain film~ not to mention that it closely surrounds a river from beginning to end. When I saw the title, I guessed it was a love movie, but after watching it, I knew it was about family love. It's been a long time since I watched a movie like this, and the narration and music still haunt my whole mind~ A very memorable...

The attraction of the countryside, the characters in PITTER are similar to the characters in the years of burning love, but I feel that they are well shaped in the years of no burning love. I saw it said: There is no place in this movie that is a climax, just like the big river, which flows slowly... That's right, why didn't I feel it? ! ! Not enough...

"In fact we rarely even help our loved ones, it's not that we don't know how to help, it's just that what we give is not necessarily what they need, but we need to know that we can still love them without being fully Love completely when you understand it. "A line that I can't let go of. (In other words, there are many translation versions of this line, so I have to look for...

    Evaluation action

The film has a slow rhythm, elegant and poetic photography, coupled with the main line and narration of affectionate models, making it a classic of literary films   . (Netease Entertainment Review)
The film has no ups and downs in the storyline and vigorous dramatic conflicts, and it looks very fresh and refined in Hollywood movies. With the director's prose narration and the photographer's leisurely and poetic shooting style, it is no...

    Movie quotes

    • Older Norman: [narrating] The Burns family run a general store in a one store town and still managed to do badly. They were Methodists, a denomination my father referred to as Baptists who could read.

    • Norman Maclean: My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night. But ah my foes, and oh my friends - it gives a lovely light.

    • [first lines]

Older Norman: [narrating] Long ago, when I was a young man, my father said to me, "Norman, you like to write stories." And I said "Yes, I do." Then he said, "Someday, when you're ready you might tell our family story. Only then will you understand what happened and why."
