When I watched the movie, I felt that this was Jim's peak acting work. It turned out to be so "full-hearted"...Jim and Andy are both acting masters. If they are not crazy, they will not survive. Two similar gods of comedy are in two different places. In this era, there is such a fate, which is really a good story in the film...

It can be used as a behind-the-scenes footage of "The Man on the Moon", as a supplementary understanding of the film, to better feel the degree of Jin Carrey's performance. The film fully records Jin's sensibility and immersive performance, let us know how bad it is to work with such an actor, and let us know to what extent the actor can forget himself. Jin explained what a person is to forget oneself. While creating all kinds of troubles on the set, he also clearly told the interviewer that he...

Watching "The Man on the Moon" at the same time, you can both give 10 points to the two movies, one is Andy's life in the movie, and the other is the person Jim Carrey brought back to Andy behind the scenes. Dee isn't just on camera, he's in the movie, he's everywhere on the set, and the actors know how painful it can be to get into a role and not get out, but Jim Carrey may have been waiting for that role all his life , the long-dead comedian whose life and beliefs highly overlap. This is a...

I think back to the strange feeling of watching "Man on the Moon". As a viewer, I am always wandering between complete belief and complete disbelief. Sometimes the movie goes beyond reality, and after a while it feels like a silly joke. Years later, through the materials at that time, I understood the source of this strange feeling. When Jim played Andy, he was Andy. When Andy played Tony Clifton, he was Tony. So who is Jim Carrey? He is everything, he is nothing. In the movie, Jim is free. Jim...

I've always wondered: Why do so many comedians get depression? Chaplin, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, and Rowan Atkinson, who played Mr. Bean, all suffered from depression. After watching this movie, I seem to understand something: comedians often put themselves aside, do their best to make people laugh, and over time become unable to find themselves and know what makes them...

Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond quotes

  • Jim Carrey: I've stepped through the door, and the door is the realization that this, us, is Seaside. Its the dome, this is the dome. This isn't real. This is a story. There is the avatar you create, and the cadence you come up with, that is pleasing to people, and takes them away from their issues, and it makes you popular, and then at some point you have to peel it away. And, you know, it's not who you are. At some point you have to live, you know, your true man. You know Truman Show really became a prophecy for me. It is constantly reaffirming itself as a teaching almost, as a real representation of what I've gone through in my career, and what everyone goes through when they create themselves, you know, to be popular or successful. And it's not just show business. It's Wall Street, it's anywhere. You go to the office and you put a monkey suit on, and you act a certain way, say a certain thing, and lie through your teeth at times, and you do whatever you need to do to look like a winner, you know. And at some point of your life, you have to go, "I don't care what it looks like." You know, "I found the hole in the psyche and I'm going through, and I'm going to face the abyss of not knowing whether that's gonna be okay with everybody or not," you know. And at times, just like the movie, they try to drown you in the middle of that abyss. They go, "No, be the other guy. You told us you were this guy. You told us you were Andy. You told us you were Tony Clifton." You know, no one can live with that forever.

  • Jim Carrey: How far should I take this? How far would Andy take it?
