Basketball version of boyhood. The method is surprisingly simple and primitive. In fact, it should be long overdue to make a documentary like this, because there are thousands of children who are the same as the protagonist who wrote the book American Life together. The crossover of the fates of the two protagonists (and the contrasting edits) is brilliant, highlighting the uncertainty of fate and allowing outsiders to see more. The disadvantage is that it sometimes becomes a memorabilia of...

The film has made me insightful again, and I feel all kinds of cuteness and helplessness in southern Chicago. But if I were to talk about racism, social class, and the educational system from an American perspective, I still felt that I was not enthusiastic politically, and I felt itchy. So as for my feelings, the "American Dream" is a little easier than the "Chinese Dream". Can you imagine that the protagonist of the story is a child from the Chinese urban-rural fringe who cannot afford to go...

Thanks to Roger Ebert's persistence, this documentary has been promoted. It is indeed an unprecedented viewing experience. I thought it was just an inspirational American dream, but I didn’t expect it to be so profound. It showed the persistence, competition and belief in society, and also gave me a new perspective on the world around...

Self - Talent Scout: I've got a bitter taste in my mouth about a lot of things that have happened. A lot of people accuse me of taking youngsters out in the city and taking them out to St. Jo High School and they ask what did I get out of the deal. A lot of racial slurs and so forth from my own people, about me, about what I did. I still felt and feel that I was doin' the right thing for that particular time. Sometimes I have second thoughts when I see the net results of what happened with youngsters.
