      Merry Christmas

After reading it, I stopped for about ten minutes before slowing down to write something. I usually write it while I read it, but of course I wrote it when I started reading it this time, but I decided to delete it all.

Nagisa Oshima mentally abuses me! I didn't know the director, and I even...

Fainting in the Colonel's Kiss - Nagisa Oshima "Merry Christmas on the Battlefield"

      Author: Running around

It's amazing, whether it's camera movement, scheduling, performance or music, complex textures. The standard of a good movie (there is no one) is a long aftertaste. There may be countless paths of understanding, and I was mainly moved by Lawrence and Takeshi Kitano, how relatively normal two people navigate themselves in chaos and fury. The critique is directed at the distorted power relations from the East and the West at the same time, and the extreme value it has reached in the war.

Col. John Lawrence: [referring to Capt. Yonoi] I think he's just taken a bit of a shine to you.

    • Col. John Lawrence: Would you rather punish the wrong man, than see the crime go unsolved and unpunished?

      Yonoi: Yes.

Col. John Lawrence: You mean *I'm* to die, because you think if there's a crime, then it must be punished... and it doesn't matter *who* is punished?

      Yonoi: Yes!

Col. John Lawrence: [a bit incredulous, starts to laugh] You're not by any chance a Gilbert & Sullivan fan, are you?
