I've always hated Kazan, but I can't say why, but this work helped me figure it out: Kazan is a hypocritical moral supremacist who likes preaching rather than drama, which is somewhat similar to John Ford . Through the protagonist played by Brando, this film shows on the screen the legitimacy of doing great good and small evil, even ignoring rules, abandoning principles and procedural justice, which is what I reject in terms of expression. In terms of expression, Kazan does not seem to care about purely dramatic displays. For example, in the behavior of breaking the rules, he only unilaterally shows the positive results of the behavior, and refuses to show the actual consequences as an opposition. This kind of obliteration of reality cannot be formed. The dramatic brilliance (effective conflict) has instead been reduced to wishful preaching by the creator.

The collective unconsciousness, the awakening and resistance of the oppressed class; the advancement of the story and the application of the soundtrack are excellent; the group performance is extremely wonderful.
