    Character Evaluation

Terrence Malick is a very humble person and very shy . From "Days of Heaven" to "To the Wonder", he has reached the pinnacle in the use of natural light . He is known for his slow work and meticulous work, his works are abstract in style and clever in his thoughts .
Terrence Malick's movies are always expected to be an elegant audio-visual feast. He has always used actors as a tool to convey the themes and ideas of the film, using body language to convey the meaning he wants to express. He puts the exploration of morality and soul at such a central position in his creation. What he focuses on is almost only the inner world of the characters, showing the spiritual connection between individuals and the tragic ending of a life that is constantly dealing with corruption and degeneration .
Terrence Malick has always been low-yield and low-key. He played down the plot of the story and pursued the shooting of the spiritual core of the characters. His always maverick style of work has won him great prestige. Many Hollywood first-line stars are almost free to choose, and they all "crush their heads" just to appear in Malick's movies. His narrative style is fluent and unique. In "Knight of Cups", Malik once again let go of any "clear rules and precepts" related to narration, put people's thoughts on the commanding heights, and created a stream of consciousness-like audio-visual feast, a beautiful illusion like a dream scattered. In the story, the audience accompanies each character to experience love and being loved, and reexamine the true meaning of life together .

Pocahontas: You are the man I thought you were and more.

    • Captain Christopher Newport: Let him go.

Colonist: You said to hang him, sir.

Captain Christopher Newport: Now remember Smith, you've come to these shores in chains. You're under a cloud, which you'll darken considerably if I hear any more of your mutinous remarks. Is that understood?

      John Smith: [nods in recognition]
