The artist who made the curtain call and laid the foundation stone of "The Spring and Autumn of the Stage".
Such autobiographical writing was praised by Bazan as a "great work". He analyzed it from the author's psychological point of view and considered it to be "Chaplin's exorcism ritual". I think the best thing about his critique is that he treats the film's structural clutter and other shortcomings...

Tragic Image of Tilly: The Highest Achievement of Chaplin's Creative Artistic Thought
"Stage Career" became the peak of Chaplin's genius, in a positive sense, because it shaped the two protagonists Cavallo and Tilly. A tragic figure of great and eternal significance. If the tragic figure Cavallo's...

Chaplin's true curtain call is also the least comedic movie. The hero is late, and the glitz is gone, but the clown still has to force a smile in front of people, and even face the empty auditorium alone. The overlap inside and outside the play is even more embarrassing. Chaplin (and Keaton, his only feature film co-star), was after all an "outdated" artist unsuitable for a talkie, and the moment he left America marked the helpless end of an era. But the most touching thing is the love between Terry and Cavallo across age, identity and material world. This love originated from mutual support in a desperate situation, but it has not changed over time. In the scene where the two reunited in the tavern, the simplest lines condensed the most ardent and intense emotions. Cavallo said no one wants to grow up...everything changes...but I know you will always love me...that's what makes my heart hurt. His refusal and departure just proved that the purest and true love is manifested in letting go and parting; her love is as clear and flawless as the Virgin Mary, and she is devout and sure enough to withstand all trials. Unfortunately, dying on stage is the only possible ending for him. (9.5/10)

I haven't seen the big screen version, but I've seen this Blu-ray version twice, and I've heard the dubbing of the movie, but I haven't seen it on the big screen. Now such a high-definition restored version fulfills my dream of not going to the cinema. This is still my desire to watch a Japanese movie that has increased my desire to see it. Let's take her as my first movie in March, although the time is just right.
