The ending was given at the very beginning, basically Al Pacino's one-man show, the big guy who decided to wash his hands and jump out of the rivers and lakes could not escape the seemingly conventional fate in the end. DePalma uses a lot of gorgeous camera movement in this film, imbuing each shootout with romance, and Al Pacino's serene monologue at the end is like a poem. (It's still a bit long overall)
