Paul McGern has three younger brothers who are also actors. They starred in the 1995 TV series " The Hanging Gale " together. Born in Liverpool in 1959, Mike Gern studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In 1986, he starred in the BBC live-action adaptation of "The Monocled mutineer" (The Monocled mutineer).
