In 1980, he won the best actor " Going in Style " at the Venice Film Festival ; the 1975 Oscar for best supporting actor (nominated) " THE GODFATHER: PART2 "; the 1975 Golden Globe Awards "the best newcomer (nominated) "THE GODFATHER: PART2" .

He died in New York, USA on February 17, 1982, at the age of 81.
