    Character Evaluation

John Cassavetes’ highly recognizable work styles include improvisation, hand-held photography, loose sheet structure, and jazz-like free and casual editing techniques. The themes of the movies all come from real life and revolve around the same theme .
John Cassavetes is known as the "Godfather of Independent Film" and is the forerunner of American independent film. In Kasowitz's film, the performance of the actors occupies the core position, and other technical factors are set up to assist the actors' performance. At the same time, the director's guidance always aims at how to help the actors perform. As a result, Kasowitz's film constitutes a unity that revolves around actors. The uniqueness of this unity is reflected in the "improvisation" of the actors' performances. This kind of performance derived from theatrical stage training constitutes the unique style of Kasowitz's film. The success of Kasowitz's film depends not only on the efforts of individual actors, but also on a series of creative work done by Kasowitz. Therefore, it is a more precise angle to explain the improvisation in Kasowitz's film from the perspective of the film author. Whether in the script writing stage, the shooting stage or the post-editing stage, Kasowitz provides strong support and precise guidance for the actors' improvisational performances. He not only established the communication between the character and the actor himself within the framework of the camera, but also established the communication between the actor and the audience outside the camera, so that improvisation can go further on the road of film .
