Jay Acovone is a versatile actor, best known for his ability to play authority figures such as mafia bosses, bad guys, police/military, and lawyers. He was born on August 20, 1955 in New York, New York, USA. His parents later moved to Mahepak, NY, and he graduated from Mahepak High School. Although he is a movie fan, it was a chance to meet a friend and encourage him to participate in the competition, which made him an effect on his career. He participated in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Lee Strasberg School of Drama in New York. His chance came, he played the role of Skip Lee, with Al Pacino, cruising in the movie (written and directed by William Friedkin). He spent a few years working in New York, on TV during the day, but when he moved to Los Angeles, he got the leading role, Opposite of Jack Scalia, filming a TV series in Hollywood (Aaron's spelling)
With his new home in Los Angeles, Jay continues to be recruited into a series of regular TV series against Ron Koslow before several supporting roles in movies and TV including Heroic Women (Susan Sarandon) and Cold Steel (Sharon Stone) : Beauty and the Beast (starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman). He plays the deputy prosecutor Joe Maxwell, who is the boss on Hamilton's strict and charismatic show. The show was written and produced by George Raymond Richard Martin , Alex County Gansa, Howard Gordon , and others, and was twice nominated for the Emmy Awards for Outstanding TV Series in 1987 and 1988.
After the end of Beauty and the Beast, Jay continues to have multiple supporting or leading roles in TV and movies: For Justice (including Steven Seagal (Italy), now in the Matt Emmy award-winning series), Mattlock ( Griffith ), and the Golden Globe-Friends of the award-winning series (Jennifer Aniston)
In the mid-1990s, the role of blockbuster Independence Day ( Willard Christopher Smith Jr ) was introduced, and a major recurring role in the TV series stargate-sg1 (Richard Dean Anderson). Jay plays Charles Kawalsky, a major in the Air Force, who worked with Qiao Lin's team in a government to explore other dimensions. stargate-sg1 has won multiple awards, including the Saturn Award for Best Syndicated/Cable TV Series in 3 different years.
The next ten years led to another blockbuster hitting a character: Castaway ( Tom Hanks (3), Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger () and SWAT team Samuel Jackson Silk Stalkings (); Rob Estes sliders (), John Rhys-Davies, New York City Police Department (blue) Jimmy Smits) and X-Files (Jillian Anderson); guest roles in CSI: NY (Gary Sinis), Monk (Tony Shalhoub (), Criminal Minds) Thomas Gibson (24), and Kiefer Sutherland)
In recent years, Jay has seen a short TV show back to the day with a regular role in the General Hospital (Maurice Benard), and then continues to guest appearances in multiple hit TV series: Super Detective (including Simon Baker), Leverage (Timothy Hutton (CSI), George Izzy (Las Vegas), Michael Kris (NCL), and Mark Harmon). In 2016, he participated in the motion capture video game Mafia III (2K Games), playing the role of an Italian mafia boss, Sal Marcano.
In 2017, Jay was asked to perform the Game of Thrones novel by George Martin , Wildcard-Hand of the Dead, along with Adrian Paul. (This series has been produced by TV via Universal Cable and will be produced by Mr. Melinda Snodgrass Noveck) and Gregory.
In addition to acting, Jay is a big fan of NASCAR racing, blues guitar music. He likes to go to live concerts, ride a bicycle, and ski (for which he holds a teacher's card). Jay lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their cat, and they pass from rescue.
Although most websites cited Jay’s birthplace as Mahepak New York, according to Jay’s official website, he stated that he was born in New York and later moved to Mahepak.
