    Character Evaluation

Most of the works directed by James Gray center on the Jewish family in New York, USA, showing the losers in the "American Dream" and analyzing the problems encountered by the United States as a multi-ethnic society. On the one hand, he emphasized the great sacrifices made by individuals of separated ethnic groups to integrate into American society. On the other hand, he emphasized that the family concept plays an irreplaceable position in the process of digesting the conflicts between individuals and individuals and between individuals and society. He pays more attention to the dramatic conflict of the story and the sense of form of the film. Although his film has a slow pace and does not bring strong sensory satisfaction to the audience like commercial films, he inherits the "prudent romanticism" of the directors of the "New Hollywood Film" generation. ", and absorbed some of the characteristics of European films. His films also have elements of detective, suspense, and film noir. When the audience approaches his "Portrait of Losers", they will find that his films affirm the importance of family and family on a deeper level through individual failures. On the whole, he not only expressed the conservatism in American values, but also emphasized the failure and sacrifice of individuals. Similarly, he also embodies certain recurring themes and aesthetic characteristics.  .

      Lingering sadness

It's a mistake to be born with a kind of person. Wanting to be yourself is also a mistake. Not wanting to do it is still a mistake. Even death is a mistake.
Some people complain that this is a long story without a climax. Such a movie is like a symphony by Shostakovich. I don't know what kind of...

Feel a little longer than a short comment

The loose narrative structure is a major flaw in the film. It could have been a model story in which blood is thicker than water, and it is full of passionate tone of family affection and revenge. Unfortunately, the director who told the story turned it into a nagging action movie. In the end, the...

8.0 Two families. Shooting genre films to engage in family entanglements, filming and filming moral dilemmas is no longer, but it turns New York into a small Columbia, and the road is narrowed. Chasing a car is always in the rain, chasing a murderer is always in the grass, either reeds or wheat waves.
