      Blue fairy

The one who accompanied the child was originally intended to educate her about lying, but she did not expect to talk about the dangers of truancy.

A windfall, the blue fairy inside is so beautiful, with blond hair and red lips, like a typical Hollywood beauty in the 1940s. She has a...

      Pinocchio

It tells that a puppet named Pinocchio was given life. He was headstrong, mischievous, lazy, liar, not caring about others, not learning, and just wanting to play all day. After a series of adventures, he became a good kid who was honest, polite, loved learning, and cared for others. In the end,...

I really admire Disney's technology back then.

Stunning animation emanating from the golden era of Walt Disney (1937-1943). Technically, it's irreproachable: colorful, full, rounded, fluid animation with vibrant motions and striking renderings (the crashing of waves, Pinocchio's dance scenes or the stressful escape from the whale). The settings are plush and the designs detailed – see the impression of carvings on the cuckoo-clocks, when meeting the pulsating creatures on the ocean floor. However, incorporating scary & dark moments in a simple moralizing tale is puzzling in terms of target audience. Does Pinocchio constitute the apex of what the studio ever produced, as is commonly thought by many critics? I'm inclined to disagree.

    Pinocchio quotes

    • The Coachman: Newt! And what's your name?

      Alexander: Alexander!

The Coachman: So, you can talk!

Alexander: Yes, sir! I WANNA GO HOME TO MY MAMA!

The Coachman: TAKE HIM BACK! HE CAN STILL TALK!

The Coachman: [the donkeys start protesting. The coachman cracks his whip] QUIET! YOU BOYS HAVE HAD YOUR FUN! NOW PAY FOR IT!

    • Lampwick: Listen to that beetle.

[Donkey ears start growing out of Lampwick's head and Pinocchio pushes his beer glass away]

Lampwick: You'd think that something was going to happen to us?

[Lampwick turns around to play pool. A tail grows out of his back end and Pinocchio throws his cigar away]

      Lampwick: Consciences? Phooey!

[Lampwick's face turns into a donkey face]

Lampwick: What do I look like? A jackass?

      Pinocchio: You sure do!

[Pinocchio laughs and then he brays like a donkey]

Lampwick: Did that come out of you?

[Lampwick laughs until he brays like a donkey]

Lampwick: Did that come out of me? What the?

[Lampwick feels the side of his head and then his face. He turns to the mirror and screams]

Lampwick: I've been double-crossed! I've been framed! Please? Please? you've got to help me! Please? Mama! MAMA!

[Lampwick brays and then begins to buck before breaking the mirror and he kicks things across the room]
