Many four stars are because ordinary people can’t understand

I have watched a few Canadian movies. The most impressive thing before was the Barbarian Invasion. After watching this movie, I think it’s still worth talking about. The film is really amazing. The technique is perfect. It can be used everywhere. Used to worship. It is a master-level movie.

      But...

      secret

This film is considered to be a more "orthodox" one of Igoyan's works. He lacked his signature weird music, lost mystical mysticism, lost the grotesque character and wanton sensuality, and lost the very individual experimental style. The film is more introverted and approachable in terms of story,...

The story was originally very simple. It had to be filled with a MV-style style with a lot of beautiful airscapes and ecstatic soundtracks, much like the style of literary youth, but no matter how fancy parallel editing, it couldn’t be like the masters. In the same way, the really exciting spirit overexaggerated the emotions, but forgot to put the logic of the story in more detail. Why is a selfless and kind lawyer who goes to the side of the sword for someone else's daughter, but is cowardly and helpless in the face of his own daughter's depravity, and is worse than a child? It's worth thinking about, but the film doesn't give enough information to flesh out the line. Why does a wheelchair girl lie and doesn't give enough information for the audience to understand. It would be irresponsible for the audience to even win an award at a film festival based solely on emotionally rendered sets and compositions. Why does the audience have to keep guessing how many stories are behind your story when watching a movie? Can't you show it? On the healing of psychological trauma after a disaster. Except that the father finally decides to visit his daughter, the whole film is a gray direction of death, and nothing is really explored.

      Finally not so obscure Igoyan

    The Sweet Hereafter quotes

    • [phone ringing]

Mitchell Stephens: That's my daughter. Or it may be the police to tell me they've found her dead. She's a drug addict.

Billy Ansell: Why are you telling me this?

Mitchell Stephens: Why am I telling you this, Mr. Ansel? Because we've all lost our children. They're dead to us.

    • Mitchell Stephens: Tell me your news, Zoe.

Zoe: Okay. Yesterday I went to sell my blood. I'm in this fucking city, and I'm selling my blood.

Mitchell Stephens: That's not news, Zoe.

Zoe: No, but this is. They wouldn't take my blood. Do you know what that means, Daddy? Does it register? I tested positive.

Zoe: Welcome to hard times, Daddy.

Mitchell Stephens: What do you want me to do, Zoe? I'll do whatever you want.

      Zoe: I need money.

      Mitchell Stephens: What for?

Zoe: No, you CANNOT ask me that. YNot anymore. You asked me what I wanted, not what I wanted it for. I want money.

Mitchell Stephens: Do you have a blood test?

Zoe: You don't believe me? You don't FUCKING believe me?... I like it when you don't believe me. It's better that you don't believe me, but have to act like you do.
