The analogy is clear enough for gangsters and corrupt cops to defeat the British colonists. Leaving aside the theme, Wang Jing is no less serious than any contemporary Hong Kong director in terms of technology and scheduling details. The audio-visual language of this film is fluent and powerful, and I personally feel that it is the best among Chinese-language cinema films this year.
