The film described the protagonist who wanted to become a Broadway star, but was strongly opposed by his parents. After many years, he left his hometown and changed his name and surname finally on the stage. In a nightclub and bar in San Francisco, he realized his dream and became a jazz singer   . This film is the first sound film in the history of world cinema , and it is also the first song and dance film   ; it marks the coming of the sound film era and a sign that the film is reaching maturity   . On May 16, 1929, it won the first Oscar Special Award and shortlisted for the Best Adapted Screenplay   .
