The original novel "You Only Live Twice" is the last James Bond novel completed bywas still alive. It was published on March 16, 1964, and was the twelfth novel in the series. This film is also the first 007 film whose plot is quite different from the original.
According to the original plan of the producer, "The Secret Envoy of 007" should be the fifth 007 movie after "Thunderbolt." The filmmakers at the location had no choice but to shoot "You Only Live Twice" first. Lewis Gilbert CBE initially refused to direct the film, but after producer Albert R.
