"White Tooth" is an adventure legend based on Jack London 's classic autobiographical novel. It is set against the gold rush in the Yukon region and tells the story of White Fang, a wolf cub whose parents have died. At the same time, it also tells the experience of Jack, a city boy, who went from San Francisco to the icy world to follow his late father's gold rush.
Jack persuaded his father's friend, the brawny Alex, and another man named Skok to take him to a remote destination for gold. They started a dangerous journey by walking and sled dogs. On the way, they were attacked by the pack of wolves, and Skok was killed. A female wolf who also suffered this bad luck left her little wolf pups to fend for themselves. This wolf pup has half the blood of a dog, and thus began its survival adventure. It was adopted by the Indians as a working dog and got a name called White Fang. When White Fang showed fighting ability out of self-defense, professional dogfighters tricked it out of its owner and forced it to fight. These thugs put White Fang as a "wolf fighting" gimmick and made a lot of money, until White Fang faced the Pitbull and was seriously injured. Jack rescued the white tooth and took care of it to recover, and the two also developed an inseparable feeling between them. In the end, when Jack went through a difficult time scouring for gold, he had to decide to stay in Yukon or return to a civilized world without white teeth.
This is the story of Jack, and it is the story of White Fang. Most of the footage in the film was spent on animal scenes. White Fang is interpreted by Jed, a half-wolf and half-dog. The whole film uses both mixed blood and pure blood wolves.
At the beginning, the hungry wolves hunted down their next delicious meal-rabbits. The chase scene was filmed separately, and the wolf and the rabbit never stayed together. When the wolves grinned, it was their response to the "teeth" command from the instructor. They rounded up the scene, and the people in front of the screen didn't really see it. The wolf was eating a mixture of dog food and chicken. This game used trained purebred wolves.
When White Fang's mother went out to forage and feed her cubs, what she fished out of the river was a rubber fish. The half of the fish it brought back to the cub was a fake fish with dog food on the top. Later, the wolf picked up a fish from the river. This was a rubber fish that it learned to catch after training.
On the sled dog cart, part of the cargo that Jack and Alex carried was a coffin with a body holding a white dog. Both are fake.
In the scene of a wolf attacking a man, when White Fang's mother was shot, the wolf learned to fall, limp and crawl, as if she was really injured. In order to simulate two wolves attacking Alex, the trainer put on Alex's jacket, and then the wolf bit and violently pulled on the belt on the jacket. They had already practiced this. They were rewarded with food because of their hard work.
After his mother died, Bai Fang tried to join other wolves, but in the process of chasing, he slid down the snow-covered hillside and fell into the cave from a hole. He was sliding on a plastic track, not really down the hill. When he fell into the hole, he actually fell into the hands of the trainer. When he fell into the cave, he actually only had one foot on the soft fake snow. The angle of the camera made him look deeper. The hungry little wolf wants to fish and catch mice. The real fish in the shallow water was neither touched by the wolf nor injured. Although real mice were used, when White Fang chased them, he used props pulled by ropes. In the situation where the hungry white tooth is attracted by the dead rabbit on the trap, the rabbit is fake. When White Fang is trapped and hung upside down, you can only see his head and front paws because his trainer is holding him. This set of scenes is edited, so you can only shoot a few seconds at a time. When the trapper cut the rope and pulled him up by the neck, his hips were held and supported outside the camera. The barking of White Fang on the sled was matched later.
At first, Bai Fang met Jack several times, and once he rescued Jack from the claws of a bear. The bear chased after him, and Jack fled for his life and hid in the pile of logs. White Fang and Bear confronted head-on, diverting his attention, and drove him away. These are basically edited, Bai Fang and Xiong are just playing with the trainer. Although the wolf and bear are accustomed to each other, when they briefly participated in the shooting together, they were still tied by ropes (not visible in the lens).
All fighting scenes are animals playing instead of fighting. Hours of video of animals playing are edited into minutes. Any picture that looks like a real shot is edited, and the sound is added later. Animals have their own cosmetic carts to provide "blood" and "scars." As for White Fang’s last fight, he wore a fur collar, and it was this collar that the Pitbull bit, not White Fang’s neck. When the Pitbull is pushed open by the crowbar, the crowbar is made of rubber, and the actor pretends to use force. White Fang was dying, so Jed was lying quietly by the church. Today Jed and this St. Bernard dog are still good friends, and they often play together in the trainer's paddock.
When these villains wanted to turn White Fang into a dogfight, they provoked it with a stick, and White Fang finally grabbed the stick and bit it into two pieces. A kind of soft wood is used here, and the roar and bite of the white teeth is actually a reaction to the special bone that the trainer is holding outside the camera. As long as you need to growl and bite, the same method is used throughout the film.
After Jack rescued Bai Fang, Bai Fang still didn't trust people and bit Jack. The prosthetic hand is used here. When White Fang jumped out of a closed cabin window to follow Jack, he was actually jumping over the harmless candy glass (that is, the glass-like substance made by pouring hot syrup into the model). When the villain launched an attack and set fire to the hut, the fire was under control, and the fire never really approached the wolf. The stone thrown by the villain is made of rubber.
At the request of Disney, our representative Edward L. Lesh went to Alaska State to inspect the huge photography venue built for animals. He stayed in Alaska State for four and a half months and made 22-hour animal show videos. The production company has spent a lot of effort and cost to ensure the safety of the animals. Under the meticulous care and care of the trainer Clint Rowe, his animals have completed a very outstanding performance. Their mutual trust and love were evident throughout the filming process.
