The plot mainly tells the comedy story of a master fraudster and the FBI agent who arrested him in cooperation to solve the case.
Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) was finally arrested after three years of "cat and mouse game". After FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim Dekay) arrested him, it does not mean that this is as bright, charming and clever as a peacock. The superb man will spend the rest of his life in prison from now on. Three months before his imminent release, Neal successfully escaped from the most heavily guarded "highest security" prison in the United States. In order for Neal to follow the clues left by his old love Kate, he must regain his freedom. But when he escaped easily, he was arrested again by FBI agent Peter. Escape is a felony, and Neal said he has a way to "compromize the crime": He is brilliant, and he is willing to assist the FBI in solving the case, so that he can return to freedom. Neal was subsequently hired as an FBI consultant and monitored by Peter.
The criminal and the FBI agent, two people with opposite identities, after working together for a period of time, Neal and Peter began to trust each other.
