19-year-old Andrew grew up in a single-parent family. With the goal of legendary musician Charlie Parker, he wanted to become a top jazz drummer. One night when he was practicing at school, he was picked up by the devil tutor Fletcher and entered the regular band. At the same time, he began to pay the price for the pursuit of perfection. The harder Andrew practiced, the more he was separated from the outside world. The only one who understood him was Fletcher, but the latter's irritability and moodiness distorted this teacher-student relationship, and it made Andrew even more fascinated, and his own personality also changed. Although it is great, I very much agree with the one-star short review. In fact, the film keeps zooming in on the evil details, but when you are really willing to observe this level so close, it already implies your praise for it.
