Simonis a former swimming champion who is now a swimming coach. Bilalis a young Iraqi who travels across the continent to Calais to join his girlfriendin London . He tried to cross the English-French Channel by hiding in a truck, but failed. He was therefore determined to swim across the strait. Simon taught him to swim, and he wanted to dissuade him from taking risks.
Years of war have brought large numbers of refugees to Europe, many of them in France, with Britain as their desired destination. Pilar, a 17-year-old Kurdish refugee, has another purpose, where his beloved girl is waiting for him. With the help of a swimming instructor, Pilar plans to swim across the English Channel.
