Since the "Watchmen" serial series came out in 1986, Hollywood has tried to make it into a movie version many times without success. In the late 1980s, Terry Gilliam ("12 Monkeys" and "Brothers Grimm") took over the project, and the final conclusion was that this cartoon could not be made into a movie; in 2004, Darren Aronoff Ski ("Wrestling King") also shelved this plan and started filming "Treasure Fountain"; in 2005, Paul Greengrass ("The Bournemouth 2", "The Bournemouth 3") was worried about budget overruns. Finally withdrew from this plan.
In 2006, when the 40-year-old Zach Schneider decided to direct "Watchmen," the director's previous career really made comic fans quite nervous. Schneider used to be a TV commercial director, and his work style was judged to be excessively vanity.
In 2006, he directed "300 Warriors" adapted from Frank Miller's comics, which was a huge success, which made the producer Warner Bros. full of confidence in Schneider, thinking that "he has a keen sense of fashion, and The visual style that matches it". At this time, Warner obtained the copyright of "Watchmen" and very much hope that Schneider can start working on this film.
