Eldar Alexandrovich Ryazanov is really good at making jokes through the fetters between characters. The film's opening scene is full of film noir style, with dark lighting, elongated shadows, oblique camera angles, black trench coats and wide-brimmed hats. A modern Robin Hood's story is a valuable insertion of the director's satire on the corrupt and opportunistic Soviet social bureaucracy, and Hamlet's metaphor is also skillfully used, retaining the consistent ideological characteristics of Soviet comedy.
The film is a Russian version of an urban robber story. It is simple and ingenious, with a compact plot and rich characters. Most of the comedy sections can cross the boundaries of language. The techniques used in the later famous works are basically mature, especially the chasing bridge. Duan's three-dimensional use of space is very unique, and the effect surpasses that of Hollywood road movies of the same period.
