When Kim Novak was filming the fall into the water, Hitchcock found that it was fun to jump into the water again and again for Cape Kim Novak. In fact, this shot has reached Hitchcock's standards, but he insisted on making Kim Novak take many shots for fun.
At the end of filming, the film’s screenwriter Sam Taylor proposed to add Novak’s subjective point of view flashback, but Hitchcock has deleted the play from all copies. In the end, the co-producer and distributor Paramount overturned Hitchcock's decision. Hitchcock was ordered to add the scene back.
In order to adjust the lighting to the right position, Hitchcock spent a week shooting Marron staring at a portrait in the Palace of the Legion of Honor.
During the trial screening of the film, the producer, Paramount, discovered that Novak's review of the scenes would make the audience guess the answer to the story and lose interest in watching the movie. So, Herbert Coleman set out to retake a few more shots.
Kim Novak hated the gray outfit he wore in the film when the film began, because it made her feel very restrained. But as the shooting continued, she gradually adapted to this costume.

Hitchcock is a sentimental man. All his fascination with women in his movies eventually turns into scars. Women are confusing, simple, and common to him. But it is this kind of woman that keeps him in trouble The non-existent woman whom the protagonist falls in love with in the film repeatedly falls into the ecstasy set by him.

Four brushes, Hitchcock's highest work. 1. The opening chapter explains the police officer's death indirectly caused by Ferguson, and the condemnation in the heart leads to the need for self-salvation, and provides feasible conditions for the occurrence of a series of subsequent events. 2. The relativity of love: In Gavin's seamless plan to kill his wife, the only uncontrollable thing is love. Ferguson fell in love with the fake Madeleine. After Madeleine's death, he ran into Judy, who was "similar in appearance". He pursued Judy because of his love for Madeleine. Judy also obeyed all Ferguson's requirements because of his love. 3. Active and passive, peeping and being peeped. Like Hitchcock's other movies, in the first half of the film, the male protagonist exists as the dominant player of the camera's viewpoint, while the heroine assists and maintains the correct operation of the viewpoint. After Madeleine's death, she completed the transfer of the dominant viewpoint and explained the truth of the conspiracy through monologues and flashbacks. 4. Feminine symbolization: the "artistic appreciation" inside and outside the painting; the hidden ambiguity of the subtle lines; the 360° rotation of the kiss; the end of the noir film-style fatalism. 5. Red and green interaction; hair style contains "Instinct" & "Beauty in Daylight". (9.5/10)

Vertigo quotes

  • Scottie: Can I ask you a couple of questions?

Judy: What for? Who are you?

    Scottie: My name's John Ferguson.

Judy: Is this some kind of Gallup poll?

  • Judy: Do you live here in the hotel?

Scottie: No, I happened to see you when you came in, so, I thought I'd...

Judy: Yeah, I thought so. A pick-up! Well, you've got a nerve. Follow me right into the hotel and up to my room! Now, you beat it! Go on and beat it!
