In the 1960s in the United States, a terrible tornado storm hit Joe. The Harding family, Joe's father was swept away by the storm in order to protect his family. His childhood experience prompted Qiao to grow up to become a meteorologist specializing in the study of tornadoes.
In the 1990s, Joe's husband Bill. Harding brought his girlfriend Melissa to ask Joe to sign the divorce certificate. Bill was also a meteorologist who chased tornadoes. In Joe's chasing team, Joe told him that the tornado detector "Dorothie" he designed before had been successfully manufactured; Bill was very happy and finally decided to chase the wind again.
In the course of the chasing wind, another convoy led by Jonas surpassed them. Jonas obtained the sponsorship of large companies and possessed advanced equipment. He also stole the research results of Bill and Joe in order to become famous. In the confrontation between Joe and Bill and the tornado, the two "Dorothies" were scrapped due to incomplete designs; while Melissa broke up with Bill because she could not bear this thrilling and turbulent life. She thought Joe was more suitable for him.
Another large tornado hit, Joe and Bill arrived and rescued Joe's aunt in time; at the same time, they were inspired by wind chimes and improved their detectors. The tornado storm struck again, and Jonas refused to listen to advice and was swept away by the tornado. Bill made up his mind to take the risk personally, and finally succeeded in releasing the last "Dorothie". Through thousands of small detectors, the chasing team finally received complete information about the center of the storm, and they finally succeeded. Bill and Joe also avoided the attack of death by virtue of their wit and bravery. After the tornado, the common adventure rekindled love in their hearts.

Twister quotes

  • Joey: [Discussing at Meg's on the tornadoes they have seen so far at Meg's home at her dining table, eating steak and eggs] No, that was a good size twister. What was it, an F3?

    Bill: Solid F2.

Melissa: See, now you have lost me again.

Bill: It's the Fujita scale. It measures a tornado's intensity by how much it eats.

    Melissa: Eats?

    Bill: Destroys.

Laurence: That one we encountered back there was a strong F2, possibly an F3.

Beltzer: Maybe we'll see some 4's.

    Haynes: That would be sweet!

Bill: 4 is good. 4 will relocate your house very efficiently.

    Melissa: Is there an F5?

    [Everyone goes dead silent]

Melissa: What would that be like?

Jason 'Preacher' Rowe: The Finger of God.

Melissa: None of you has ever seen an F5?

    Bill: ...Just one of us.

    [Looks upstairs, indicating Jo]

  • Jo: [in the middle of an argument chasing the first tornado, veering off the road] Do you want me to drive?

Bill: [while looking at Jo instead of road] No!

Jo: [Seeing they are heading for a large combine parked along the side of the road] Then would you?

    [Bill swerves to avoid]
