The Trojan horse is the most difficult design challenge in the film. The Trojan horse was built by the Greeks from wood that burned the warship. They had to complete it in 12 days. Wanting to design such an important landmark means that the design of graphic designer Phelps must be able to arouse the consensus of others on it, and of course, it must maintain the realism style advocated by the film. Phelps stated that he did not want to put wheels on the Trojan horse because it was a clumsy and meaningless practice. After a lot of elimination and selection, the three conceptual artists worked together to create the final blueprint for the wooden horse. A sculptor then carved a 12-inch three-dimensional design model. Finally, 12 plastic sculptors worked together to complete the true-size Trojan horse.
The wooden horse was built at Shepperton Studios, and the process had to be divided into two because there was not enough space to accommodate this behemoth. The lower half of the horse's legs and the chassis are made first, and then the upper half of the horse's body, including the head and shoulders. But it was not until two or three months later that the Trojans were fully assembled for the first time in Malta. The main materials of the Trojan horse are steel and fiberglass, but it looks like wooden in appearance. The horse is about 38 feet tall and weighs 11 tons, and it took several weeks for the staff to fully assemble it.
