After ending the shooting plan in Malta, the crew moved to Los Cabos, Mexico, and began shooting the most difficult part of the film on July 11, 2003. The producers have already recruited hundreds of staff in Mexico to prepare before the arrival of the 350-person core crew. The new location covers an area of 2,800 acres. A lot of preparations have been completed before the arrival of the crew, 230 laborers have been hired, and a large amount of building materials have been transported from Mexico City to build Greek warships, the Temple of Apollo and the spectacular Trojan walls.
One of the most complicated tasks is to clean up the site for the construction of the city wall. The thousands of acres around the Mexican beach are covered with bushes and cacti, and extend into the sea. The crew must clear out 1 square mile as a battlefield, and at the same time, it must be as needed. Keep some specific species of cactus. Similarly, the Mexican coast is also a habitat for endangered sea turtles, and producers must implement a strict sea turtle protection plan. After the beach environment was protected and cleaned up, 80 craftsmen immediately began to build the exterior walls and city gates of Troy. The project took 4 months and 200 tons of plaster. The built city wall is 500 feet long, with an average height of 40 feet, and the central area on both sides of the city gate even reaches 60 feet. In post-production, digital technology will extend the walls of the city for several miles.
Unfortunately, when the first camera crew finished shooting and the second camera crew finished shooting in Mexico in two weeks, a hurricane hit the area and the film location suffered serious damage. Two-thirds of the Troy city wall It collapsed and the reconstruction work took another month.
