The location shooting of "Travel to Busan" took place at several stations along the KTX, the Korean high-speed rail system. The main scenes are located at Seoul Station, Dongdaegu Station, Xingxin Station, Nagkyo Station, and Busan Railway Maintenance Plant. The crew made many attempts to make the actors perform smoothly while also reducing the need for CG processing. Among the total of 1,800 shots, only one third of them needed to be shot with the green set in the studio for post-processing.
During the filming, the makeup team of the crew had 20 to 40 staff members every day, and all 12 dressing rooms were in operation. In the big scenes, nearly 100 actors who play infected persons will be put on makeup from early morning to midnight without interruption. It often takes 40 minutes to complete a delicate makeup.
