The creator of the film did not describe the superficial personality of Daniel Plainview through specific details such as buying land and drilling for oil, but directly cut into his spiritual world through external events. Paul Thomas Anderson spent a lot of pen and ink describing the collusion process between capitalists and the church in oil development. At the end of the film, the third movement of the jubilant Brahms Violin Concerto sounded, making the film always full of irony .
In the film, Daniel Day-Lewis put his Shakespeare actor skills to the fullest. He invaded every cell of the protagonist and poured anger and hidden purpose on the character. Between the realism of the film and the exaggerated spectacle of the theater stage, Lewis found the perfect combination, and his performance stunned the audience .
