Rory Jensen is a writer who is experiencing a creative bottleneck. He aspires to be the next spokesperson of American literature and has lost his writing inspiration. Until he discovered a lost masterpiece with all the content he aspired to create, he took possession of it and became the darling of the literary world again. But he later discovered that he had to face a moral dilemma and a heavier price.
Rory Jensen and his girlfriend came to a secluded place to live together after graduating from college. One is to reduce the cost of living, and the other is to find creative inspiration. He is very hardworking. During the day, he goes out with his girlfriend to experience the life in the city and find inspiration. At night, when night falls, he sits at the computer desk and starts writing his novels.
During a honeymoon trip to Paris, Rory received a gift in an antique shop-a seemingly old but durable document bag. Later, Jensen found a manuscript in the package that was forgotten by time. It was a novel, which was about a love story that happened in Paris in the 1940s. After reading the manuscript, Jensen felt that he would never be able to write such a novel, so he secretly took this novel as his own. After typing the novel back into the computer and publishing it, Jensen once again fought at the commanding heights of the American literary world—he had reason to laugh at all untalented writers—including himself.
However, after the novel was published, troubles ensue, because the stories and characters in the novel are derived from real life, and the original author’s past stories, friends, enemies, and his descendants gradually come to the door. And Jason also feels increasingly that he and the author of the novel are inextricably linked
