The film is an extreme case: when a story has little room for imagination, it is more specialized in creating atmosphere. Some viewers felt that a title like "Children Nowhere" is suitable for the film, which is a British retro-style thriller that shows contempt for tradition. Most of the scenes without dialogue in the film are of master level. When Arthur opened his arms to embrace the darkness, the darkness also embraced the audience. The film abandoned the pioneering shooting methods and embraced the British style of the nineteenth century. In a sense, the film is a reflection of "The Artist". Screenwriter Jane Goodman adapted Susan's 1983 novel very well and presented it to the audience in an economical and gloomy way. The film did not exaggerate the violence, and did not undermine the fear of the film itself. While maintaining the style, the film has the thrill of the 19th century and a strong suspense atmosphere, as well as the unknown foresight that transcends blood and violence. Director James Watkins combined the elements in the film in a surprising way. Whether it is the creation of the atmosphere or the shaping of the characters, it is unexpected. Daniel's performance in the film convinced the audience. He showed a mature acting skill through a young body.
