This is the only feature film directed by Miyazaki Hayao that does not have the pseudonym "の" in the title. Of course, it is also the first film based on real characters.
The novel "風立ちぬ" is an autobiographical romance novel written by Hori Tatsuo based on his experience of recovering from illness in Karuizawa in the 1930s. The prototype is named Yano Ayako, who died of tuberculosis the following winter when he met the writer. The heroine in the novel is named Setsuko, and the heroine in the movie is named Nahoko, which also comes from another novel "Nahoko" published in 1941 by the writer.
"風立ちぬ" is a poem translated by Hori Tatsuo from French poet Paul Valery's " Seaside Cemetery ", "風立ちぬ、いざ生きめやも", Hori Tatsuo took this poem as the first sentence of the novel. "Opening poem" , Yue Yuankun translated as: "Wind up ちぬ, strive to live"; Jiang Hesi adopted the Chinese translation of the original French poem of "Haibin Cemetery" by the poet Cui Shunhua, translated as: "The wind rises, only strives to survive" ; And Yeyi translated it as a Chinese poetry: "Even if there is a gust of wind, life will never give up" .
Miyazaki Hayao couldn't help crying while watching the finished product of "风立ちぬ". He said that this is the first time this happened.
Hideaki Anno last acted as the protagonist of the film in 1983 in the independent film "Jack ウルトラマン MATARROW", which was shot with an 8mm camera in 1983. He played the role ofウントラマ in 2013. It has been thirty years.
The poster of the film released in 2012 wrote tribute to Jiro Horikoshi and Tatsuo Horikoshi. In addition, the crew also specifically asked for permission from the family of Tatsuo Horikoshi and collected materials on the characters' personalities.
The story of Nahoko’s death was revealed by Toshio Suzuki before the movie was released. In Ghibli’s works over the years, the heroine died in only two cases. The other is "ホタルの墓(火垂るの墓)" (1988, Director: Takahata Isao ), sister Setsuko who died of malnutrition.
With the help of the movie, the theme song "Airplane Cloud" ranked first on the iTunes distribution charts. At the same time, Matsutoya Yumi and Studio Ghibli released the 40th anniversary commemorative disk of "Airplane Cloud" with CD+DVD and LP +CD+DVD are sold in two formats, including 18 paintings drawn by Miyazaki Hayao himself. Various sound effects such as airplane propellers, steam locomotives, and major earthquakes in the film are all completed by real human onomatopoeia. Miyazaki Hayao was also interested in joining at one time, but was rejected by some staff members .
Miyazaki Hayao said "风立ちぬ" will be his last feature-length animation work .
