In 2015, the film photographer and press officer Khalid Khatib met the British director Orlando von Einsiedel and joined his filming team to start shooting for the film. The film was produced by Netflix
. Khatib was responsible for the production of a large number of scripts in the film, capturing many key scenes of the civil war. Khatib joined White Helmets when he was 17. He picked up the camera to let people know what the white helmet is and what happened in Syria. This film is the first film about the Syrian Civil Defense Forces to make it to the big screen
