The Village movie plot

In 1897, there were only No. 60 people in a village in Pennsylvania, which was well organized and easy to manage. At first glance, this village at the end of the 19th century is simply a beautiful picture. The villagers live a peaceful and isolated life in a village full of pastoral style, working at sunrise and resting at sunset. However, behind this seemingly self-contained, close and stable rural community is hidden "common sense" that the villagers know-an unknown group of "creatures" live in the woods around the village. There is a simple and easy-to-understand agreement between villagers and "creatures"-"You don't offend me, I won't offend you", no one dares to go out of the village and into the woods.
"Don't go out of the village."-Such an unreasonable taboo certainly can't stop the curiosity of young people for knowledge. Lucius Hunterconstantly questioned this, hoping to step beyond the border of the village to explore the unknown world. Lucius turned a deaf ear to the advice of the village chief Edward Walkerand his mother Alice Hunt. The dangers of the woods and the strong desire for the outside world gnawed at him all the time. Only the village chief’s daughter Ivy Walkercan calm him a little bit. Ivy is a beautiful blind girl, but her birth defects allow her to have wisdom and extraordinary abilities beyond her age-Lucius and another young man in the village Noah Passyare deeply in love with this unique girl. It was Ivy's brave nature and God-given perception that helped Lucius make up his mind, and finally embarked on the forbidden road and entered the forest to reveal the terrible truth.
The "peace treaty" between the villagers and the "creatures" was thus invisibly torn up. This originally very calm forest began to become creepy and threatening. An evil force began to attack the village, and the whole village fell into In a panic. Lucius must bravely stand up to face all this, clean up the mess he made by himself, and save the entire village.

Secrets are the root of fear, and fear comes from the heart.

The Village quotes

  • Ivy Walker: [Ivy sits straight up in bed and walks out to the porch, then sits down next to Lucius] The elders are going to have an inquiry tomorrow. Each member of the village is to be questioned in the meeting hall.

Lucius Hunt: To see how the borders were breached?

    Ivy Walker: Yes.

Lucius Hunt: It is cold outside. You ought to go in.

Ivy Walker: Why are you on this porch?

Lucius Hunt: It is not safe.

Ivy Walker: There are other porches... Do you find me too much of a tomboy? I do long to do boy things - like that game the boys play at the stump. They put their backs to the woods, and see how long they can wait before getting scared. That's so exciting. I understand you hold the record. It will never be broken, they say.

Lucius Hunt: It is just children's games.

Ivy Walker: How is it you are brave, when all the rest of us shake in our boots?

Lucius Hunt: I do not worry about what will happen, only what needs to be done... How did you know I was here?

Ivy Walker: I saw you out the window. No, I won't tell you your color. Stop asking. When we are married, will you dance with me? I find dancing very agreeable... Why can you not say what is in your head?

Lucius Hunt: Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance, I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak, I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying I, I sometimes cannot think clearly, or do my work properly? What gain can rise from my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do... is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And, yes... I will dance with you on our wedding night.

  • Edward Walker: We have protected innocence that I'm not willing to give up.
