Cary Watts is an elderly woman who lives in a cramped apartment in Houston with her son Rudy and her grumpy daughter-in-law Jesse . In 1947, Mrs. Watts could no longer bear such a life, and she was eager to return to her hometown, the town of Bountiful. One day, she finally went out quietly and embarked on the road back to her hometown. But neither at the bus station nor at the train station, the address is not on the timetable. Well-meaning people told her: This place no longer exists. But Mrs. Watts was very determined and vowed to fulfill this wish before she died: "Keep looking for it, I can even walk 12 miles for it." , some kind people she met along the way extended a helping hand to her, and finally, a mayor knew about this place and drove her to Bountiful. But the town has long since been reduced to ruins, all the inhabitants have left the place, the houses collapsed, and the barren fields are overgrown with weeds. When the old man's son and wife arrived in Bountiful, the old man with mixed feelings still stood for a long time in front of the door of her former home, with a serene and calm expression on his face.
