Mike Kovac (Colin Arthur O'Donoghue Colin O'Donoghue) is a seminary student from a funeral family, but he can't find any faith in his heart. By chance, Mike was sent to the Vatican to participate in a training course for exorcists. He is still suspicious of God, not to mention the mysterious and mysterious exorcism The Rite, Mike discusses with the teacher from a scientific point of view. On the recommendation of his teacher, he went to visit Father Lucas Trevan (played by Anthony Hopkins), who is famous for his exorcism. Although he personally experienced Father Lucas’s exorcism The Rite, he still didn’t believe in the existence of the devil. It wasn’t until a series of unthinkable things happened to him that the depths of Mike’s soul truly wavered.
Based on Matt Baglio's novel "The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist", the story is inspired by real events   .
