"The Ringer" took 7 years to complete because of the controversial theme. After a long period of discussion, the Special Olympics World Games believed that the film had a positive significance for the humanization of Special Olympics athletes and agreed to the filming. Producers Bobby Ferrari, Peter Ferrari, director Barry W. Blaustein, screenwriter Ricky Blitt also participated in the 2001 World Winter Special Olympics held in Alaska, USA
