This is an old story of "adulter and adulterer murdering her husband". Adapted from the novel of the same name, the film's name comes from a note written by the heroine Cora in the novel to the hero Frank, "God is like a postman, he always rings the bell twice. And you are usually in the backyard, always have to wait until You can only hear it when you ring the bell a second time." The young and beautiful Cora married her much older, honest and stingy restaurant owner. One day Frank wandered here and became a worker in the shop. They gradually fall in love, and so, a murder begins.

The Postman Always Rings Twice quotes

  • Cora Smith: It's too bad Nick took the car.

Frank Chambers: Even if it was here we couldn't take it, unless we'd want to spend the night in jail. Stealing a man's wife, that's nothing, but stealing a man's car, that's larceny.

  • Cora Smith: That note I left Nick, if he gets back before we do and finds it...

Frank Chambers: Where'd you leave it?

Cora Smith: In the cash register!

Frank Chambers: That's terrific, that's the first place he'll look.
