The Passion of the Christ Shooting process

The filming of the film allowed Mel Gibson to prepare for at least ten years. Deep down in his heart, he desperately wanted to tell the story of this biographical religion in the form of a film. This has been his belief all along. Mel Gibson described the reasons why he made this film in this way, from preparation, manuscripts to scripts, to raising funds, shooting, post-production, and fighting for release. For this third film he directed, he undoubtedly paid immeasurably. Hard work.
On November 4, 2002, Mel Gibson took his film crew and started shooting in a few remote towns in Italy. Among them is a town called Matera, which still retains many cave-like buildings, which is almost similar to the environment in which Jesus lived. The crew worked there for 10 weeks. They had strict requirements on Romans and Jews from clothing, utensils, architecture, eating habits, and even the way they walk and talk. The shooting coincided with the warm winter sun, and the sunlight slanted down this ancient land, which was very suitable for filming, and also enabled the show to successfully complete various beautiful and classical pictures.
From the point of view of the name, the film should be an artistic reproduction of a plot in the "Bible", but in fact Mel Gibson made it into an action film. Gibson hopes that all the details in the film will be as true as possible to restore the history in people's minds. In the film, Jesus will be subjected to all kinds of discrimination, defilement, and insults by the Jews. In order to get a more shocking feeling, many horrible instruments of torture were arranged on the scene, and almost all the actors were injured during the shooting. American actor James Caviezel, who plays Jesus Christ, has been tortured by various punishments. Even with some protective measures, he still has to endure a certain amount of pain in order to be realistic. For him, this is an extremely difficult filming. Because the crucifixion took place in ancient Rome where Jews lived, Mel Gibson, who was also a producer, screenwriter, and director, chose to use two languages that have disappeared in the entire film: Latin and Aramaic. More boldly, Mel Gibson is not going to set up subtitles for the film. He said that only visual excitement is enough.
"The Passion of the Christ" is a hot potato that discourages many production companies. Mel Gibson can only rely on the foundation he has laid down and all parties have raised about $30 million in funding to shoot. Even after the film production was completed, he could not find a film company to dare to release. Fortunately, he was encouraged by excellent comments from various parties after the screening. Many religious people who had watched the film also expressed their appreciation for his work. Finally, Newmarket took over the distribution work, and won more than 2,000 movie theater lines.
