"The Manchurian Candidate" nakedly presents the political environment around the American people in the movie, and everything is being doubled up: close-ups of people's faces that fill the screen, strong white light, chaotic and convulsive dreams, huge elections The TV screens, the noisy and frenetic election venues, and those ocean-like stars and stripes reminded the country’s proud concept of freedom and democracy. Except for the horrible dreams of the characters in the film, the rest of the scenes can be said to have long been accustomed to the public in the United States. However, due to the director's intentional special treatment, the audience was successfully caught in a kind of Unable to get rid of the oppressive suffocation, and the latent tension that the mountain rain desires has been lingering.
The main story of the script is relatively excellent. Through the intersecting relationship of multiple characters and the progression of the characters' dangerous situation, it successfully creates a shocking and tense atmosphere. The fatal wound of the script lies in the omission of the branch plot and the lack of rationality in some details: in order to enrich the relationship between the characters and the capacity of the story, the film deliberately arranges the plot of a black woman and Marco meeting and walking together, considering that he is in danger, unexpectedly It is not so convincing to believe in such a woman who obviously hopes to approach him. There is also a problem with Marco’s repeated struggles at the end. Perhaps the directors have forgotten that they arranged Marco in front to get rid of control. The obvious imperfection of the script also affected the expression of the theme of the film, but the excellent performances of several major actorssomewhat made up for this shortcoming.

The Manchurian Candidate quotes

  • Eleanor Shaw: [to Raymond] But... but when you smile... oh darling, when you smile, that's what I live for. When you smile.

    [kisses his mouth]

  • Ben Marco: You said the army implants, they were for emergency medical data, right?

Delp: The ones they publicized were. There was a parallel project of all kinds of scary implantables. The Clinton watch dogs finally freaked out about it, closed down.

Ben Marco: Parallel project? How'd you know about that?

Delp: Manchurian Global funded me to make some of this scary shit. Heard of them? Imagine not just a corporation, Marco, but a goddamn geopolitical extension of policy for every President since Nixon.
